El Paso Herald: ‘Student Startups highlighted at UTEP Blackstone LaunchPad Grand Pitch Competition’

The University of Texas at El Paso Blackstone LaunchPad and the Mike Loya Center for Innovation and Commerce teamed up for the Spring 2021 Grand Pitch Competition. The four-week program, consisting of mentoring and virtual workshops, culminated in an opportunity for students to pitch their startups to judges. Some of this year’s winners included Cesar Venegas and Checo Ponce de Leon, Co-founders of Thyroid HQ, who are using AI to drive proper health outcomes for those with hyperthyroidism, and Ismael Lopez, Founder of Service Dogs of El Paso, who is offering service dog training at no cost to veterans.
